Delete Your Account

Last Updated: September 14, 2026

Your memories belong to you — including the right to take them back. Deleting your account removes your photos, your restorations and the stories you created, from our databases and from our file storage.

Delete from inside the app

This is the fastest route and works on every platform. You will be asked to confirm, because it cannot be undone after the grace period below.

  • iPhone or iPad: Profile → Account Details → Delete Account
  • Android: Profile → Account Details → Delete Account
  • Web: Account → Delete Account

If you cannot sign in

You do not need access to your account to have it deleted. Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, asking us to delete your account. If you no longer control that address, write from any address and tell us enough to identify the account — we may ask a question or two before acting, precisely because we do not want to delete someone else’s photographs.

We aim to action written requests within 30 days.

What happens, and when

Immediately

  • You are signed out on every device.
  • Push notifications stop. Any API tokens you created are revoked.
  • Your account stops working. Nobody can sign back into it.

Within 30 days

Your data is then permanently destroyed — deleted from our database and from our file storage, not merely hidden:

  • Original photographs you uploaded
  • Restored and refined versions of them
  • Stories you created, and their contents
  • Photographs you contributed to stories shared with other people
  • Comments, contacts, preferences and notification settings
  • Your name, email address and profile details

The 30-day grace period

Deletion is not instant, deliberately. For 30 days your account is closed but your data still exists, so that an accidental deletion is recoverable. If you change your mind, email [email protected] within 30 days and we can usually restore the account intact.

After 30 days the data is gone and we cannot recover it, even if you ask us to.

What we keep, and why

A small amount of information outlives the account, because the law requires it. None of it is used to contact you or to build a profile of you, and the link to your identity is severed where the record allows.

WhatHow longWhy
Payment and transaction records7 yearsTax and accounting obligations. Your name and account are detached from them; what remains is the transaction itself.
Content reports and takedown records, where one concerns your accountAs long as the record is neededTrust and safety. These protect other people, so they survive the deletion of the account that prompted them.
Security logs12 monthsFraud and abuse prevention.
Support conversations3 years from the last messageSo we can answer questions about what happened to your account.

Photographs in shared stories

If you contributed photographs to a story shared with other people, those photographs are yours and are deleted with your account. Other members will see them disappear from the story. Anything of theirs remains, and your name is removed from it.

Deleting individual photos instead

You do not have to close your account to remove something. A single photo can be deleted from its detail screen, and a story from the story screen. The same 30-day timeline applies before it is destroyed.
